PRB's comes on set of universal dies, which can do all the jobs except the round tubes and pipes.
  • What die will I need to bend 1 1/2" tube on a PRB?
You will need to order 1-1/2" tube die for , one size die set only works for one size of tube.
  • What die will I need to bend 1" pipe on a PRB?
You will need to order 1" pipe die , one size die set only works for one size of pipe.
  • Are tube and pipe different sizes?
Yes, pipe OD is larger than tube OD, check the chart of pipes & tubes. Outside Diameter (OD): The outside diameter (OD) is the distance across the extreme outside dimensions of a tube or pipe. Inside Diameter (ID): The inside diameter (ID) is the longest distance across the inside dimensions of a tube or pipe. Wall Thickness: Wall thickness is the distance between the outside diameter and the inside diameter of the pipe measured in thousandths of an inch. For pipe: Schedule determines wall thickness. It's important to use accurate calipers when measuring this value; a tape measure or well-trained eye are not accurate enough in this case. The relationship between outside diameter and wall thickness has an important bearing on selecting a die.

The correct way to cut metric threads is to repeat, keep the half nuts engaged, and do not disengage the half nuts.
  • Why can't GMC lathes do repeat cuts on inch threads?
Follow the chart of the thread chasing dial in the manual. When you repeat, disengage 1/2 nuts and move the carriage back, then engage half nuts again on the same number or line when the thread chasing dial turns on. The manual shows how to cut the metric and inch threads. Please contact us if you need copy of manual.
  • Do we carry bigger 3 & 4 Jaw chucks for GMC lathes, such as 20" or 24"?
We do not offer bigger chucks. Unfortunately, 24" is too big; you will have to use very slow speeds, and even then, the part cannot be heavy. Otherwise, it may damage the spindle at the customer's risk. We recommend using a face plate, and they make a fixture to hold their large parts.
  • Will the 16 x 40" Heavy Duty Precision Gap Bed Lathe w/ DRO accommodate a 12" chuck?
GML-1640HD is small lathe so it cannot hold big chucks due to the chuck weight, it comes with 8” 3 jaw and 10” 4 jaw chucks, the max 4 jaw chuck is 12”. You will need to buy your own , and use very low spindle speeds; otherwise will damage the spindle, 12” 4 jaw chuck weight is lighter than 12” 3 jaw chuck.

  • Minimum gauge for HBB-1014?
    14 GA mild steel(hot roll), 60,000PSI teel
  • Why the bending leaf is moving slow on HBB's?
Due to OSHA safety requirements we need to implement. ( HBB only requires one operator; manual brake needs two operators )
  • Is the Bending Angle CNC Controlled/programed and controlled by the Servo motor on HPB's?
Yes, it is controlled it by ESA CNC , for example; On the CNC touch screen, enter material type such as mile steel, and enter bending degree 90 degree, choose V die size such as 1” , the CNC will automatically calculate to bend 90 degree, due to material bounce back. If bend out 93 degree, then enter 3 degree compensation then bend another piece , would be straight 90 degree bend.

Model BB-412-6HD can do 12Ga mild steel x 48” but has to be hot roll, not cold roll. Hot roll is standard mild steel tension 60,000PSI
  • Do I need to purchase straight finger to do Hemming on brake?
Yes, you will need to purchase a straight finger to do hemming on Brakes.
  • Will BB-812-6HD can take a 104” long and 56” wide sheet (our max. size) and make 4” bends all around to end up with a footprint of 96” x 48” sort of a half box?
To make an 8' x 48" x 4" pan, the material sheet size is 104" long x 56" wide, and make 4" bends all around to end up, but there is only a 2" opening on both ends, so you cannot insert a 104" long sheet in, so the BB-812-6HD cannot make an 8' x 48" x 4" pan. They need to purchase a 10' brake, such as BB-1014-6HD, HBB-1014, or HBB-1010.

It does not matter the material thickness or width, as long as they meet the roll minimum thickness specification.
  • Preventive maintenance schedule for the PSR-5016 Slip Roll Machine
Keep the machine clean and grease any zerk fitting. You can add a little oil to the chain if you want to, but make sure there is no grease as it will collect dirt.
  • What's the major difference between HBR and PBR models?
Power plate rolls, also known as mechanical plate rolls, use mechanical force to bend the metal plates. The power for bending comes from an electric motor that drives the rolls. Power plate rolls are generally more straightforward in design and operation compared to hydraulic plate rolls. (review specification) Hydraulic plate rolls, as the name suggests, use hydraulic force to bend the metal plates. The hydraulic system provides the force required for bending, allowing for greater control and precision in the bending process. Hydraulic plate rolls are often preferred for their versatility and ability to handle a wider range of materials and thicknesses. If you are doing cone attachments this machine is for you. Power plate rolls tend to be more affordable compared to hydraulic plate rolls, making them a more cost-effective option for certain applications. It's important to note that specific models have different features and capabilities, so it's always recommended to review the specifications and capabilities of the particular machine you are considering understanding the differences and choose the one that best suits your requirements.
